New Roof Recently installed - is this normal?

#1

Hello - we had a new roof installed this past summer, and noticed something new after astorm in Colorado this past week. Their appears to be a build up of ice on the fascia, drip edge, and outer shingles. Is this normal? Can it be prevented? Can it Cause long term damage?

Thank you

Yes. You are wise.
This summer, make sure the top of that beam supporting the facial board is sealed, painted, caulked Whatever it needs.

It can start to get under the shingles and lift them. It could also cause water damage. Make sure to check them when it thaws or try to break the ice away

That is called an ice dam don’t try to remove it yourself all you’re going to do is tear up the shingles and void your warranty what you can do is install a heating wire that should solve the problem
