Ok I have gotta ask this
What is your preferred tool that you keep in you bag at most all times?

1: A Claw Hammer

2: A Roofing Hatchet

I’ve always used the heaviest Estwing hatchet. I have always hand nailed as it’s a better quality product. Nail guns are faster, not better.

tape measure and pen (i dont install anymore, thats what my employees are for)

Same here as TM. Hatchet. While a claw hammer is great for pulling out nails, nothing is better than a hatchet for shingling.

I use the hatchet to break seals and lift tabs in repairs, I also use it to slid underneath to hold a tab up while I so what I need to do under it.

The face of the roofing hatchet is tilted a bit to meet the angle of the roof better than a standard hammer which has a 90 degree face.

Plus the shorter handle makes it ideal to pull in and out of a hammer loop while you are kneeling down on a roof.

While I’m a firm believer in “to each his own”, I personally prefer a hatchet hands down (although I own a collection of hammers for various duties: Large steel framer for demo work, a Titanium California Framer for Carpentry, a smooth face 16oz for finish work, etc…).

a ladder a note book and a tape. but if were talking sentimental purposes then my slaters tools for sure. belonged to my grandfather. I also love my scratch bar and margin trowl on occasion. oh yes and dont forget my hot boots, bandanna and pitch goggles. The nostalgia is making my eyes water.
