Received Quote - What do you think?

#1

I finally found a contractor that is willing to do everything I want - i.e. SmartVent and I received the quote yesterday – I am curious to hear what others think of it.

  • Remove existing 1 layer down to deck
  • Apply 30# felt paper, metal edging and pipe flashings and also install ice shield at designated areas noted by owner
  • Install new step and counter flashing to fireplace chimney.
  • Install new custom drip edge to sunroom
  • Install ridge vent across entire ridge cap the length of home
  • Install Smart Vent product where noted by owner
  • Install to box vents on N.E. corner of home
  • Install 30 year Elk shingle and matching ridge
  • Clean and haul away

$6845.00

The roof is 28 squares and I will be supplying the SmartVent product.

What do you think??

there is nothing to think about we cannot comment on it … We are not there .

All i can say is if :

Then that means you have been getting multiple estimates .

I say if he gives you what you want then he earned your business .

installation sounds standard

What you said is exactly right - I feel like I have found someone who is willing to do everything I want and he just did my neighbors house as well.

I was only curious if anything about his quote jumped out to anyone that should make be concerned.

Thanks for the feedback!

wow and an easy reference too!!!

What kind of “pipe flashing” is being specified? To some, this could be interpreted as 3-in-1’s & not Lead Jacks.

Where is the metal edging going?

Do you have a brick or siding chimney? If so, describe the kind of condition the turnback or step flashing is in…

What makes the Sun Room require “custom” drip edge & what’s the profile?

What’s the pitch to the house (overall or in separate sections)?

One story or two?

How long is the expected time for completion? How many people is the contractor expected to bring?

Those are my questions, anyhow.

Hi,

You got to watch him work. This says alot. He is willing to use products you specified. This is a good sign too.

Sounds like a good choice.

I could do it for less. My crew could have that house done in a day or less. 6800 dided between 5 guys, wow id be rich but im not.
Oh wait, you have to buy all the materials for that right. With the 6800. Oh well tha sound about right.
What are you looking at profit wise. Half maybe.

The price looks ok but who’s pulling the permit? What if there is rot in the wood? How much to replace rot? Are they planning to use a dumpster or dump trailer? Are they carrying the shingles up the roof or are they being boomed onto the roof? Are they planning to tarp the perimeter? Are they planning to finish with a magnet roller? What is the labor warranty?

Guess my bids are a little more detailed than most.
