Roof pitch is 4/12— metal has been on the house seven years---- I have a problem with leaking screws. It is so bad that the one by four wood purlings will not grab many of the screws anymore. I want to take the panels up and replace the purlings with steel. my problem is when installing I used the sealant tape sandwich between the joints of the panels as recommended by the manufacture. When I try to separate the panels the tape does not want to release. Does anybody have any suggestions or secrets to break these joints without bending the metal? This or any other advice on this job will be helpful .Thanks
Replacing the wood purlins with steel is not going to fix the problem.
Chances are you installed the roof wrong.
Steel purlins will not stop the roof from leaking.
