How far over gutter should shingles extend?

#1

Same new roof in my other thread: “complete” except for issues with the intake side of ventilation using Air Vent VDE.

Another issue:
Are these shingles too far out over the gutter? I can imagine during a heavy thunderstorm that the water wouldn’t just cascade over the gutter…

Yes that is way to far forward into the gutter.

those shingles overhang the roof perimeter way too much.

#4

Well WTH is supporting them?

#5

Hi Aaron,

The vented drip edge.

Lefty,

DOH! I didnt even think about it.

There aint no way that gutter/vented drip/roof edge is gonna keep the ice out. I’d be upset.

OK, well this figures.

Can you elaborate on your last statement?

How problematic is it going to be to remove the vented drip edge?
