I don’t think this bbs allows direct YouTube embedded videos.

That’s what you’re trying to do.

I don’t like racked 3T’s, but that’s me.

Yeah me either. LEt alone any other type of shingle.
Maybe on small steep peices.

I wouldn’t even rack a doghouse…

#6

He’s quick with the nailer but not that fast with the grabbing and lining up. Notice his nail placement isn’t that great.

Certainteed recommends racking with it’s Super Shangles.

#7

I have a Carriage House job in a week or 2, I fully intend to rack them.

blah blah blah blah this blah blah blah blah that… It’s so easy to talk crap about someone else, but why haven’t any of you so called roofers put up a video to back all of that yappin…? hehhe… aaaaaaa

The most important part of shingle roofing is how it is attached to the roof deck. Nail placement is not good, nails look overdriven, underdriven, and crooked. Who gives a sh** how fast you can nail. What is important is proper technique. 10 years down the road no one cares or remembers how fast the shingle was put down if there are blow offs or fish mouths.

#11

cause were too busy roofin to be fuckin off with a video camera.now go get into that tearoff!!!

RoofBoss said it best.

If I can figure out a way to use a YouTube clip as advertising, then maybe I’ll shoot some video & add it to my (eventual / in process) website.

'Til then, I’ll stick with customer photos & the occasional project picture.

Here’s a YouTube clip for you: Having a little fun with the 20 ga. & some plywood.

If he was faster at grabbing the shingles and moving then he could slow down on nailing and have a much better roof in the end with less time spent.

#14

Agreed.

I guarantee that @ least 2 or 3 of the nails shot in that video probably went in even a bit high or crooked… notice he is so bent on speed that he never checks for proper installation of the nail.

Fast doesn’t always = good.
